Healthy Fats

                                           

You may have been advised to eat more healthy fats as part of your management.

Adequate healthy fat intake is required for the nervous system, making hormones, anti inflammatory compounds and for fuel for muscle contraction.  When fat is used for muscle contraction, there is less fatigue and buildup of by-products which make muscles sore after exercise. Good fats also give you improved endurance.

The following is a list of foods that contain healthy fats:

Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)

Coconut oil, flaxseed oil, avocado oil, and hemp oil

Eggs

Oily fish such as salmon, tuna, sardines and mackerel

Butter or ghee.

Nuts and seeds if you tolerate them.
